Back to Show Condition: Painting the Exterior Cladding and Tile Roof Maintenance of As Oy Näyttämö

The exterior surfaces of the housing company located in Jokiniemi, Vantaa, were brought to pristine condition in one go during the summer of 2021. The exterior cladding of eight semi-detached houses, one detached house, and two outbuildings was painted to its original glory, and the tile roofs were serviced.

The housing company’s name, As Oy Näyttämö, hints at the theater located in its immediate vicinity: the large barn building next door, built in the early 1920s, now serves as the space for the amateur theater Vantaan Näyttämöyhdistys ry.

The First Act of the Surfaces Over

The exterior surfaces of the housing company, completed in 2008, were in need of professional treatment—the exterior cladding and tile roof were ready for the second act. The company’s facades and tile roof were decided to be treated, and Väriset Oy became the contractor for the project.

Both the painting of the housing company’s exterior cladding and the coating of the tile roof were completed during the summer of 2021. From the residents’ perspective, carrying out the projects during the same summer means that the work and disruptions are over more quickly.

Based on Väriset’s recommendation, Tikkurila Ultra Classic was selected as the paint for the exterior cladding due to its coverage and excellent weather protection. The color of the exterior cladding remained the original. Even though the color doesn’t change, a new coat of paint brings a fresh look to the building’s appearance. Most importantly, the new paint surface provides the exterior cladding with protection against weather-related stress.

The roof tiles with worn coatings needed new protection. Tikkurila Kilpi Pro Block was used for treating the tile roof, which is a colorless water-based protective agent for tile roofs. Being colorless, it’s suitable for projects where you don’t want to change the color of the tile roof.

– Kilpi Pro Block is easy and clean to use. Maintaining the tile roof significantly extends its lifespan.

Maintenance Pays Off
