VIDEO: Ellen Jokikunnas’s home got a new coat of paint: “My first reaction when I saw the house was, oh my, is it really this big!”

The exterior surfaces of Ellen Jokikunnas’s 113-year-old house were restored to their deserved glory in the hands of Väriset’s painters through maintenance painting of the exterior cladding.

– In recent years, I’ve noticed that the house needed repainting.

The Röykkä railway station building, constructed in the early 1900s, stands majestically in its beautiful yard in Nurmijärvi. This atmospheric home is shared by Ellen Jokikunnas with her husband and their Great Dane Reino, cats Pippa and Vokko, a rooster, and chickens. Now this beautiful home was in dire need of a new coat of paint.

“We spoke the same language”

Väriset Oy was chosen to carry out the exterior painting of the old station building, and together they planned an execution that honors the magnificent old house.

– From the start, we spoke the same language about what kind of work the house requires. You need to mechanically remove old paint, clean, and apply mold treatment as a base.

The paint chosen was Virtanen Paint Factory’s Four Oil Paint, suitable for the old petroleum oil paint surface, which is a familiar and appealing product for Ellen from a cabin painting project a few years ago.

The plan for the project convinced Ellen, and the painting project for the beautiful house was scheduled for summer 2021.

The exterior painting project was carried out in the sunny weather of June. With the new coat of paint, the house even seemed to have grown.

– My first reaction when I saw the house almost finished was, oh my, is it really this big!

Ellen is satisfied with the result: everything went as agreed, right on schedule. The clean, fresh, and freshly painted exterior brought the house its deserved splendor.

– The house seems to have risen on its toes and gained extra square footage. Now you can see how the house’s old wooden details stand out.
